Eliminating Moisture Swelling: Intertek Water Absorption Metrics of FPC vs. WPC

Date: 2026/01/11

Moisture absorption is the primary cause of outdoor decking failure. Natural timber requires continuous chemical sealing to prevent rotting, while traditional WPC contains organic wood-flour fillers that act like a sponge. When exposed to coastal fog or heavy rain, WPC experiences internal moisture expansion, leading to deep-seated black mold, surface cracking, and immediate termite vulnerability.

Greenovate FPC completely engineers out organic wood fibers, replacing them with a recycled textile-derived rPET fiber skeleton. Tested under Intertek EN 15534-1 & EN 15534-4 (Section 4.5.5 for Moisture Resistance), our FPC composite demonstrated an ultra-low water absorption metric under 0.3%.

By keeping water out of the core, Greenovate FPC guarantees complete anti-swelling, anti-mold, and anti-termite performance in extreme high-moisture zones, coastal projects, and wet commercial resort environments.
